Garry OIlney, CEO, Providence Northern California
Garry Olney, DNP, MBA, RN serves as Chief Executive of Providence Northern California where he oversees operations of six acute care hospitals, including three trauma centers and two critical access hospitals. Four of the hospitals under Garry’s leadership also serve as emergency medical services (EMS) base hospitals for their respective regions. Prior to his current role, Garry served as chief executive of Providence’s San Pedro and Torrance acute care hospitals in Southern California.
Prior to joining Providence, Garry worked for Ascension Health and Tenet Healthcare, where he served as system vice president of patient care services. After several years with Tenet Healthcare, Garry assumed the role of Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for one of the largest multispecialty medical groups in the state of Texas, where he gained extensive knowledge working with physicians in a medical group practice and implemented strategies with local hospital leadership teams to form an integrated delivery network/partnership.
Garry has extensive experience serving as an appointed member of public and nonprofit boards. He has served as a commissioner of the County of Los Angeles Emergency Medical Services Commission, commissioner of the Los Angeles County Commission on HIV, as well as Board Chair for Shanti Orange County (formally Laguna Shanti), a nonprofit organization that provides services for individuals diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
Garry holds multiple degrees, including a bachelor’s degree in nursing, master’s degree in business administration and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Texas Tech University. Garry and his partner reside in Sonoma County.
