The LIME Foundation Announces VESSEL Homes Initiative
Written in a LinkedIn Post by Letitia Hanke, “I’m so excited to finally be able to share the exciting news with you. I know it's been a few months since I first posted about the surprise.
A few years ago, The LIME Foundation was introduced to Homes 4 the Homeless to help with some of their incredible projects. It was an instant connection because Steve Schneider and I share the same heartfelt vision: to create a better quality of life for our at-risk community. Collaboration came naturally. Over time, we wrote grants together and explored ways to partner through our NextGen Trades Academy, but nothing seemed to align—until now. As they say, timing is everything.
When I reached out to Steve about a new grant opportunity, he replied, “Wow, I was just about to contact you about a great project!” That conversation led us to discuss an affordable housing initiative for low-income and marginalized individuals. Right away, I knew we were stepping into something truly transformative. After nearly a year of planning, coordination, outreach, and countless meetings, our vision is finally becoming a reality.
The VESSEL Homes are here! If you’re in Santa Rosa, you can see the beginning of this exciting project at 3362 Fulton Road, at the River Road intersection.
This initiative is more than just affordable housing—it’s about creating opportunities. It will provide hands-on, paid training for our youth, equipping them with invaluable skills. Even more inspiring, it opens the door for those same young people to become homeowners or find affordable housing in their own community.
If you’d like to learn more or take a tour, I’d love to share the details with you. Please reach out to me at letitia@thelimefoundation.org. Together, we can continue to support and uplift our community through this life-changing endeavor. If you would like to support the The LIME Foundation, you can donate here www.LIMEGivingsociety.com”
