Kaiser Permanente Marks Milestones in Santa Rosa

Kaiser Permanente on Wednesday held a milestone event at its Santa Rosa hospital to mark 35 years in operation, and 45 years providing outpatient medical care in the county.

“It is our privilege to be a leader in Sonoma County for over four decades and we continue to seek out opportunities to enact our mission in every corner of the communities we serve,” Abhishek Dosi, Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa senior vice president and area manager, said in Kaiser’s April 14 announcement. “Our physicians, nurses and care teams have created a care delivery system that provides exceptional outcomes by continuing to put our members and their families at the center of their care.”

Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa Medical Center opened in April 1990 with 106 patient beds. Today, the facility has 173 beds and continues to expand its range of services, Kaiser stated.

Over the past 45 years, Kaiser has grown its outpatient medical services in the county to include its Rohnert Park medical offices, Mercury Way medical offices and Round Barn medical offices.

That growth continues.

In September, Kaiser opened an urgent care clinic at its Santa Rosa Medical Center campus at 401 Bicentennial Way.

“Access to urgent care was a priority voiced by our patient advisers, who are an invaluable resource for ensuring the highest quality, patient-centered care in Sonoma County,” Dr. Patricia Hiserote, Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa physician in chief, said at the time.

Reflecting this week on Kaiser’s milestones in Santa Rosa, Hiserote said, “this is a testament to the extraordinary dedication, innovation and compassion that defines our health care organization.”

In January, Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa Medical Center was nationally recognized for nursing excellence when it received “Magnet status” from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association.

The hospital will retain the designation — considered prestigious in the health care industry — for four years. It is the first Kaiser hospital in Sonoma County to receive the Magnet designation, according to the health care system.

The not-for-profit Kaiser Permanente was founded in 1945. It currently serves 12.5 million members in eight states and the District of Columbia.
