Office Technology

The following courses prepare you to work as a business office worker or IT support specialist.

Intro to Computers, Operating Systems & Google Apps (6 units total)

Receive a COM Skills Certificate in Business Office Technology by completing these two courses in 12 weeks. You will learn about the hardware, operating systems and application software, as well as how to use Google Apps to make you successful in a business environment.

IT Essentials (4 units)

Receive a CompTIA A+ Certificate to work as a technician in the field of IT. Receive training in computer hardware, software, operating systems, networking concepts, mobile devices, IT security and troubleshooting.  Cost of A+ exam included in the course.

Microsoft Word Beginning & Intermediate (3 units total)

Get a fast-track Microsoft Certification in Word for Windows by developing beginning and intermediate skills in creating, formatting, saving and printing letters, memos, reports, tables and mail merge. Cost of Microsoft exam included.

Microsoft Excel Beginning & Intermediate (3 units total)

Get a fast-track Microsoft Certification in Excel for Windows by developing beginning and intermediate skills in spreadsheet design for accounting and business applications. The intermediate course includes use of program codes to manipulate data to meet management, marketing and other business needs. Cost of Microsoft exam included.

Microsoft Access Beginning & Intermediate (3 units total)

Get a fast-track Microsoft Certification in Access for Windows to create and program database applications. You will learn to use development tools to integrate information from other applications, analyze data, utilize internet capabilities, include forms for data input, and produce custom reports. Cost for Microsoft exam included.

Structured Query Language (SQL) Programming (6 units total)

This accelerated program will provide a COM Skills Certificate in SQL Programming. You will start from the beginning with basic database knowledge and techniques, and advance to learning the SQL programming language including single and multiple-table queries, updating data, database administration, reports and imbedded SQL.

These just-in-time courses prepare you for work in online business systems and management.

E-Commerce, Online Business & Social Media Marketing (6 units total)

Earn a COM Skills Certificate in E-Commerce while learning the principals and technologies involved in e-commerce and creating a Web presence for a small- or medium-sized business. This pair of courses covers aspects of business and marketing planning, a survey of Web technologies, use of digital media, building an online store, e-commerce security, electronic payment systems and legal issues. You will learn the ins and outs of promoting your business through social media strategies, and explore historic development as well as emerging trends in Web applications and services.

Small Business Management & Applied Computer Accounting (6 units total)

This pair of courses provides the skills needed to start a new business and use a computerized accounting system. Upon completion of training, students will receive a COM Skills Certificate in Small Business Management. The training covers marketing, finance, human resources, and topics unique to small businesses (including applying for a Small Business Administration loan). Students will get an overview of accounting software, setting up a company, entering ad paying bills, preparing a budget, etc.

Healthcare Certification

This is a foundational course for healthcare workers/students including EMT, nursing, medical assisting and many others.

First Aid/First Responder (3 units)

This course is designed for laypersons or professionals who require First Responder Training per State of California (Title 22) or U.S. DOT standards. The class teaches the basic pre-hospital care skills needed to render care at the scene of an emergency until more highly trained emergency medical response personnel arrive.

Web Development & Design

The following courses prepare you for work in maintaining, troubleshooting and/or creating websites.

Web Development Beginning & Intermediate (6 units total)

Web development refers to building, creating, and maintaining websites. Receive a COM Skills Certificate in Web Development after mastering aspects such as web design, web publishing, web programming, and database management. Front-end web developers are responsible for how a website looks. They create the site’s layout and integrate graphics, applications (such as a retail checkout tool), and other content. They also write web design programs in a variety of computer languages, such as HTML or JavaScript.

Web Design Beginning & Intermediate (6 units total)

Web design is the process of planning, conceptualizing, and arranging content intended for the Internet. Earn a COM Skills Certificate in Web Design after mastering Modern web design goes beyond how things look (aesthetics) to include how things work (functionality). Web design is not limited to websites as it includes other uses such as web apps, mobile apps, and user interface design.

Food Handling & Management (24 hours total)

Yes, the hospitality industry will be bouncing back! This 24-hour training covers everything you need to work your way up in the field of food and alcohol handling (restaurants, hotels, catering, etc), including new COVID 19 Protocols. Upon completing these trainings, you will receive an All National Restaurant Association (ANRA) certification.

Customer Service Training (24 hours total)

This course prepares students to take the Guest Service Gold exam, leading to an American Hotel and Lodging Institute Certificate. A winning resume builder, this certificate crosses many career fields. Students will learn the concepts and skills for providing outstanding customer service, including problem solving, effective communications, conflict management, email and voicemail etiquette, and workplace basics. The training also includes using authenticity, your intuition, empathy, initiative and leadership.

Professional Education Trainings ($25 per course)

Professionalism & Etiquette in the time of COVID

This training is designed for those seeking to enhance their professionalism and etiquette acumen in these unprecedented times. Students will learn about professional preparation entailing the intricacies of professionalism and etiquette. Central to the course is the application of the proper use of professionalism and etiquette in appropriate situations and scenarios. The overall emphasis is on developing a professional brand and statement.

This course teaches job search strategies, resume and cover letter preparation, interviewing techniques and labor market research.

Solar Photovoltaic Design for Residential and Commercial (3 units)

Gain skills in the solar field by earning a national certificate for energy practitioners, the NABCEP Certificate. This certification ensures you have the knowledge and skills to meet the demands of renewable energy projects and employers across the world. Learn how to design and install a complete working Photovoltaic (PV) system for the home or small commercial building. Topics covered include electrical PV theory to help guide students through the steps of design and installation.
