George Lucas to give away part of $4B from sale to Disney
George Lucas plans to give away the majority of the $4.05 billion from the sale of Lucasfilm to Walt Disney to an undisclosed charity.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, an unnamed Lucasfilm spokesperson said the company will put “a bulk of the money” into a foundation focused on education, but listed no specifics.
Lucas is chairman of Edutopia, which is part of his educational foundation that has given $175 million in charitable donations to University of Southern California. Lucas has also funded the Film Foundations, Stand Up to Cancer and the Make-A-Wish Foundations.
