Kaiser Permanente has opened new retail stores in several Northern California communities and is sending fully staffed mobile vehicles to community events to help explain health insurance options to residents now able to buy coverage under the Affordable Care Act, and to help them enroll in Kaiser Permanente coverage.
Dubbed ShopKP, the retail effort launched the first week of October. The storefronts opened in shopping centers in North Sacramento, South Sacramento, San Jose, Fresno, Modesto, and Stockton. The mobile enrollment vehicles are traveling to community events that draw large numbers of people throughout the Central Valley, including Fresno and Modesto. The storefronts and mobile enrollment vehicles have secure Internet connections, trained and knowledgeable staff, and a design that ensures privacy during conversations about health care needs.
