During the fall of 2011, Comcast launched Internet Essentials – the Nation’s largest and most comprehensive broadband adoption program, with a focus on closing the digital divide and getting more low-income Americans connected to the Internet. Today, Comcast released the Internet Essentials Launch Report.
This report highlights some of their partnerships from around the country, details where they have had success in addressing the digital divide, and shares some of the lessons they have learned. While Comcast is encouraged by these early results, they recognize there is still a long road ahead and remain firmly committed to closing the digital divide in the communities we serve. As Mr. Cohen makes clear in his blog, “There is no higher community investment priority for Comcast—or for the leadership of our company—than the Internet Essentials program.”
With the help of public officials, civic leaders, school districts, local community-based organizations, public officials, and other partners across the country, Internet Essentials will continue to make a profound difference in the lives of those it touches.
