Catholic Charities CYO has been working tirelessly in support of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), and helping children to gain a two year work permit. When the DACA program was first announced, Catholic Charities CYO's Refugee and Immigrant Services immediately went to work. They held frequent information sessions and were ready to welcome applicants when the line formed outside their building on August 15th.
With an estimated 100,000 eligible youth in the Bay Area, the number of people seeking information and assistance has been both inspiring and overwhelming. We have witnessed our community come together providing volunteer and financial support, and we are grateful for the assistance we have already received. Much work remains, and that work will require many more volunteer hours and further financial support. Catholic Charities CYO is confident that with more support, they can help make dreams that once seemed out of reach a reality for these young people.
